myHub Writing Retreats

MyHub will host monthly mini Writing Retreats on the second Wednesday of every month. Retreats are open to all School of Medicine and Dentistry Trainees and are inclusive of all types of writing projects.
Each session will begin with a brief guided free writing exercise, followed by goal setting, and protected time to write. MyHub’s Director of Writing Service and Training Grant Development, Dr. Elaine Smolock, will be available for consultation and review during each session.
Food and drinks will be provided.
| (Two) Join the International Freezer Challenge (Jan-June 2026) |
�� January – June 29
Perform freezer maintenance to increase research efficiency and cut energy waste. Log in maintenance on -80 and -20 freezers, such as defrosting, upgrading equipment, and improving inventory. We will calculate the total energy saved by performing the maintenance items. The top department with the highest energy savings wins $500 to host a social event of their choice, and trainees who submit can win two $250 travel grants. (Three) Volunteer at the Lab Sustainability Hub at the Biological Supply Center (BSC)
Michael Hughson and the BSC have helped recycle 3000 lbs of tip boxes via closed-loop recycling. We need your help to break down the boxes so they can be shipped off sustainably. Please reach out to Shelby_Peres@URMC.Rochester.edu and Michael_Hughson@URMC.Rochester.edu. More info to come.
