UR CTSI Digital Health Seedling Award Program: Request for Applications

The UR CTSI’s Digital Health Seedling Award provides up to $25,000 to support research that advances the development, approval, adoption and use of innovative digital health tools, methods and approaches. The one-year award is available to full-time faculty at the University of Rochester who are studying digital health approaches, tools and data including utilizing sensors and mobile technologies, electronic medical records, data from registries and other real world data and approaches to advance clinical research and address regulatory science needs. Apply by Monday, March 25, 2024.

Each year, PhD students in the Department of Public Health Sciences are given the opportunity to select an outside speaker who is considered to be outstanding in his or her field. The One-Page PhD Public Policy Pitch Competition 

Submission Deadline is March 15th 

The One-Page PhD Public Policy Pitch Competition is designed to empower the next generation of researchers to effectively communicate the public policy implications of their research using just one page of written text.

First place winner is awarded $750, and second-place winner is awarded $500. 

Important dates: Registration is open from 2/12 through 3/15; Submissions due by 4/1; Required advocacy training session on 3/20 from 2 pm to 3 pm via Zoom

Overview of GLP w/ Focus on Toxicology with special alumni guest presenter  Tyler Bell, Ph.D.

Wednesday, March 20 | 12:00-1:15pm | Louise Slaughter Conference Rm (1-9555)

Dr. Tyler Bell, an alumnus of the UR SMD Toxicology PhD program and currently a Scientist II at Takeda, will be leading a discussion on Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and its applications in industry. He will provide a comprehensive overview of GLP and address specific topics outlined below, while also welcoming and answering questions from participants. Full program flier with details.

The ambassador program develops relationships and fosters pride between current graduate trainees, postdoctoral trainees, and alumni through events, programs, tours, volunteering, and more. 'Seeds for Collaboration' Faculty and Postdoc Mixer

“Seeds for Collaboration” is a faculty and postdoc mixer sponsored by the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience and the School of Medicine and Dentistry dean’s office. At each event, colleagues mingle for half an hour, and then three 5-8 minute talks are presented. Speaker and more details here.

The discovery of SLYM by Maiken Nedergaard, co-director of the Center for Translational Neuromedicine at URMC, was selected for this year’s contest. We are encouraging everyone to vote! Nazish Jeffery ’21M (PhD) Talks a Career in Science Policy

Nazish, a 2021 graduate of Biochemistry & Biophysics, joined The Next Step podcast to talk about her career as a Bioeconomy Policy Manager at the Federation of American Scientists. Apply Now for the Addictions Counseling Advanced Certificate Program

Gain an integrated understanding of addictions and holistic recovery processes in this innovative program. A collaboration of the Warner School of Education and Strong Recovery, the program offers healthcare and mental health professionals and trainees additional substance use disorders and addictions treatment training.

Flourish Festival

On Friday, March 21, the Health Promotion Office is hosting its annual Flourish Festival, providing students with a variety of wellness and mindfulness activities to engage in. Drop by yoga, Qigong, guided meditations, VR mindfulness, and more. Explore events and register here.

Calming U

Unleash the potential of mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and self-compassion in this empowering 4-week course. Embrace a calmer, more focused mindset to conquer academic challenges and flourish throughout your college journey.  The course is tailored to UR students but is open to all UR community members, including faculty and staff. The Body Project

4-week evidence-based  program to build a healthier body image and increase sel-festeem. Open to all women and non-binary undergraduate and graduate students. Provides a safe space for all women to confront and challenge unrealistic apperance ideals. The Body Project starts Wednesday, March 20th from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the UHS Health Promotion Office.
