The One-Page PhD Public Policy Pitch Competition

The One-Page PhD Public Policy Pitch Competition is designed to empower the next generation of researchers to effectively communicate the public policy implications of their research using just one page of written text.

First place winner is awarded $750, and second-place winner is awarded $500. 

Important dates: Registration is open from 2/12 through 3/15; Submissions due by 4/1; Required advocacy training session on 3/20 from 2 pm to 3 pm via Zoom

Omics and Donuts - Metabolomics Edition

CART is pleased to bring you a new, casual yet informative series: Omics & Donuts. Join us as we provide an overview of the current and emerging ‘omics technologies available to researchers at URMC and beyond, over coffee and donuts. 

To kick off the series, they're featuring our Metabolomics Resource, and discussing emerging research capabilities in metabolomics and lipidomics using the Thermo-Fisher Orbitrap Exploris, a newly available instrument within the University of Rochester Medical Center. 'Seeds for Collaboration' Faculty and Postdoc Mixer

Funding Opportunities

Apply to Support Health Sciences Research Using High-Performance Computational Resources

Applications are requested to support laboratory staff that will accelerate research in computational biology and health, and to take advantage of the high-performance computational resources of the University.

Funds are available to support laboratory staff for short-term, early-phase work necessary to allow investigators to translate their ideas into computer code or models, and to get new biocomputational/health-related scientific projects up and running in several areas. Full details here.

UR CTSI Digital Health Seedling Award Program: Request for Applications

The UR CTSI’s Digital Health Seedling Award provides up to $25,000 to support research that advances the development, approval, adoption, and use of innovative digital health tools, methods, and approaches. The one-year award is available to full-time faculty at the University of Rochester who are studying digital health approaches, tools, and data including utilizing sensors and mobile technologies, electronic medical records, data from registries, and other real-world data and approaches to advance clinical research and address regulatory science needs.

Student Mindfulness Facilitator Training 

On March 4th from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Humanities Center Conference Room B, we will be leading a Student Mindfulness Facilitator Training. You can learn the history of and science behind mindfulness meditation and a variety of mindfulness techniques to build the knowledge necessary for leading meditation practices on-campus. Registration is required. Open to all undergraduate and graduate students.
