Hi all, I am glad to share that I have successfully graduated in MSc Biomedical science (Haematology) at University of the West of England #uwebristol. This experience has been so surreal as I look back at the journey since I started in the university until I walked up the stage at graduation. I have nothing more than being grateful to have completed this milestone in life. This academic achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support of my lecturers at University of the West of England, especially my mentor Julie Molloy who has been a guiding support during my final project and letting me handle the research at my own pace and understanding. Sure, there were times where I completely felt blank and clueless but research is all about that until "you" find the answer. Julie Molloy has never treated me with her seniority and position rather can comfortably tell that I have had chilled arguments, with her being absolutely fantastic at handling it. Secondly, a huge thanks to Emmanuel Adukwu for providing me with opportunities to talk about science and research and setting an exposure outside my comfort zone. it has been lovely to collaborate and look up to you as an inspiration. Lastly, I am forever indebted to the unwavering love and support from my parents, who have no matter what stood against the odds for my dreams. Also, thankful towards my friends, connections and colleagues at IQVIA India, my comfort zone Pratheesha Kotian, Deepthi Ashok, Nikhitha Priscilla . A huge appreciation towards Ahamd Kaif, Rumaisha Sardar who never forget to check on me. I hope your "chotu" made you both proud☺️. Alright. This is proceeding way too long as I cannot etch my entire story here. However, a few lines to the upcoming graduates: 1. Don't give up! it is going to be hard especially for a degree in Science, It is exhausting but hang in there. 2. You will encounter sleepless nights, Anxious days, crying, depression but please hang in because this will serve as a testament of perseverance when you look back with happy eyes. 3. if you think it is going to be easy especially for international students then "NO". It is meant to be hard and designed intensively to set you ahead. 4. if you come here with a mindset of only enjoyment and fun because it's a new country altogether then forget it. Remember to balance both if you can! 5. Lastly, Make sure to be kind to yourself because there is enough cruelty & this journey will definitely test you but trust me when you walk on stage whilst your name is called will definitely humble you! As a dedicated scientist in the biotech industry, I've recently begun to intertwine my industry experience with academic aspirations by pursuing a Ph.D. degree, thanks to my company's graduate program (Lilly GRAD). Since starting this venture in August of 2023, I've completed my first semester, which has been an enriching blend of working at Eli Lilly and Company, engaging in Ph.D. research, and navigating academic courses. This period has been as challenging as it is rewarding. * Balancing Industry and Academia: Juggling my responsibilities at work with the demands of Ph.D. research and studies required me to hone my time management skills to a new level. Prioritizing tasks, setting weekly goals, and approaching each day with a structured plan have been crucial to my success in both arenas. * Deep Focus: Maintaining a high level of focus has been imperative. I've employed various strategies to enhance my concentration, ensuring that I give my best to both my job responsibilities and academic commitments. * A Journey of Ever-Evolving Knowledge: This path has been a profound learning experience, enriching my understanding and skills in gene therapy's practical applications while simultaneously immersing me in the in-depth, research-based aspects of my Ph.D. studies. Each step has expanded my perspective, bridging the gap between industry work and academic research. * Personal and Professional Growth: Beyond the technical skills, this path is sculpting my personal and professional resilience, discipline, and adaptability. Looking ahead, I am eager to delve deeper into this journey. I extend my gratitude to my colleagues, mentors, and the entire team at Eli Lilly and Company and Prevail Therapeutics for their support.
