Four ‘Jackets Receive Postseason Honors from Synapse Sports

Four Yellowjackets from the University of Rochester field hockey team: Seniors Karina Bridger and Elisabeth Sidorski, and first-years Maeve Fogarty and Kara Houston, earned Synapse Sports Postseason Honors, as announced by Synapse Sports on Tuesday.
 
Bridger was named a Synapse Sports Division III First-Team All-American, Sidorksi garnered Second-Team honors, and Fogarty and Houston were named to the Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team.
 
Bridger adds to her growing list of hardware from her senior campaign, taking home her second All-America honor after being named a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) First-Team All-American on Tuesday. The senior attacker was also named the NFHCA Region III Player of the Year and the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year earlier this season, and took home both First-Team All-Region III and First-Team All-Liberty Team honors.
 
Playing in all but one game for the Yellowjackets, the Briarcliff, NY native tallied four goals and 12 assists on 58 shots, leading the team and conference, and ranking 37th in NCAA Division III in assists. Bridger's 12 assists also tied for the fourth-most in a season in program history.
 
The senior also tallied two game-winners and was named to the NFCHA Division III Senior All-Star Game where she scored a goal, competing with some of the best field hockey players in the country.
 
An NFHCA First-Team All-Region III selection and the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, Sidorski earns Synapse Sports Second-Team All-America honors after playing nearly every minute on defense for the Yellowjackets this season while tallying a conference-best five defensive saves.
 
The senior defender captained a Rochester defense that held opponents to just 1.26 goals per game and posted 12 shutouts, tied for the most in a single season in program history en route to First-Team Team All-Liberty League honors.
 
Fogarty adds a Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team honor to her ledger after being named to the NFHCA All-Region III and All-Liberty League Second Team, as well as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Fogarty started every game for the Yellowjackets this season, scoring eight goals, tallying 10 assists and leading the Yellowjackets with 89 shots.
 
A five-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week, the St. Louis, MO native finished the year ranked second in the conference in shots, shots on goal and assists, and tied for seventh in points.
 
Houston earns All-Rookie team honors after garnering an Honorable Mention All-Liberty League selection following her first-year campaign. The first-year keeper appeared in 17 games, making 10 starts in goal for the Yellowjackets and tallying 55 saves on 114 shots faced.
 
The Woodstock, NY native allowed just nine goals, for a 0.64 goals against average and a 0.859 save percentage that led the conference and ranked second in the country. Houston finished her first-year campaign with an 8-3 record, tallying 10 shutouts (eight solo and two combined).
 
University of Rochester field hockey wrapped up a 17-6 (6-1 LL) campaign in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament Round of 16, that saw them win the Liberty League regular season title, garner six all-conference honorees, including a clean sweep of the major awards, and host and win an NCAA Tournament game against the University of New England.
