Senior Amanda Strenk joined exclusive company in the annals of University of Rochester field hockey history this week, being named a First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Strenk was one of 48 individuals across Division III to earn All-American accolades following the 2021 season. The All-American award is her first of her career and is the 16th in UR field hockey history.

The first team award is just the fifth in program history, joining Tara Lamberti and Michelle Relin from 2015, Sayaka Abe in 2016 and Nancy Bansbach in 2018. Bansbach was Rochester's most recent All-American.

2021 was a record-breaking year for Strenk, a senior from Baldwinsville, New York. She scored a Rochester single-season record 23 goals in 19 games for the Yellowjackets. Ending with a team-best 48 points, the senior was atop the Liberty League stats in points, goals, shots (111), game-winning goals (6) and shots per game (5.84).

Strenk has earned a multitude of honors this year.

On a national scale, Strenk finished the season in the top-15 in Division III in goals per game (10th, 1.21) and points per game (15th, 2.53), both career-bests.

The multitude of awards earned by Strenk prior to earning All-American were aplenty. She was Region III Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Region, Liberty League Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Liberty League. A NFHCA Division III Senior All-Start, she also was honored as a Lysle 'Spike' Garnish Scholar earlier in the fall, awarded to UR's top senior student-athletes and earned Liberty League All-Academic accolades for the third time in her career.

Strenk finishes her four years in Yellowjacket colors 5th in career scoring with 98 points on 44 goals and 10 assists. She ranked fourth in career goals, was third in game-winning goals (13) and is well above second place in career penalty strokes made (9), seven clear of a group tied for second in school history.

Representing Region III, only Strenk and Jessica Ascencao of SUNY New Paltz were First Team All-Americans. Others from the region to earn All-American honors included players from SUNY Cortland, St. John Fisher, Rensselaer and Ithaca, for a total of six players.

Strenk also was named a First Team All-American by Synapse Sports earlier this week in that organizations release of its Division III postseason honors.
