A Decade of Success: The Division of Transitional Care Medicine recently marked the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Complex Care Center, which brought a new model of care for adults with chronic childhood-onset conditions such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, childhood cancers, autism, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Congratulations to the team! • Dan Croft, MD, MPH, of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, spoke with the Democrat & Chronicle about the health risks of smoke from wildfires and offered safety tips.

• Ghinwa Dumyati, MD, of Infectious Diseases, was an author of “Health Care–Associated Infections in U.S. Hospitals, 2023 versus 2015” published in New England Journal of Medicine.  

• Dillon Dzikowicz, PhD, RN, of the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Center, is first author of “Differential Diagnoses in a Patient With Palpitations and Global Electrocardiographic Changes,” published in the American Journal of Critical Care.  

• Kirsi Jarvinen-Seppo, MD, PhD, of Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology, published “A Retrospective Case Series of Unusual Natural History Phenotypes of Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis” in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.  

• David Staudt, MD, of Hospital Medicine, published the study “POCUS Oversight for All: A Pathway for Non-Expert Educators” in Brown Hospital Medicine. 

• Tom Caprio, MD, of Geriatrics & Aging, led the study “Stakeholder Perspectives on the Use of Telehealth to Support Deprescribing for Older Patients Transitioning from the Hospital to Home Health Care,” published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. 

• Hematology/Oncology's Clive Zent, MD, was lead author and Charles Chu, PhD, and Paul Barr, MD, also of Hematology/Oncology, were coauthors, of the study, Efficacy of high-frequency low-dose rituximab and acalabrutinib in chronic lymphocytic leukemia," published in Hemasphere.  Zent was also an author of "Updated consensus guidelines for the diagnosis and management of patients with HCL and HCL variant," published in Blood. 

• Paul Vermillion, MD, of Palliative Care, led the study “Barriers Perceived by Palliative Care Fellowships in Training Physicians from Diverse Specialties,” published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.  

• Internal Medicine residents Sarah Choudhury, MD, Ava Wexler, MD, and Manali Shah, DO, along with Cardiovascular Disease fellow Shamroz Farooq, MD, and Kevin MGrody, MD, of Cardiology published "Catastrophic Antiphospholipid Syndrome: When STEMI Is Not Atherosclerotic," in Journal of American College of Cardiology: Case Reports.
