Help URMC Science Win STAT Madness! URMC has made it farther than ever before in the STAT News competition pitting the year’s best biomedical breakthroughs head-to-head. Please support Maiken Nedergaard’s landmark study in Cell, which shows how the sleeping brain clears harmful proteins linked to Alzheimer’s disease. You can vote once a day throughout March in the STAT Madness competition.

Geriatric Faculty Scholars Program: The UR Aging Institute seeks SON and SMD junior and mid-career academic faculty interested in geriatric education development and advancing the Age-Friendly Health System model. Up to two scholars will be selected to receive a $5,000 stipend to enhance teaching and leadership skills and support career development as academic educators in geriatrics and gerontology. Apply by Monday, March 30.

Geriatric Teaching Day: This full-day, in-person conference on Thursday, April 9, brings together clinicians and care professionals to share practical strategies you can apply immediately in the care of older adults.  It will be held at the Larry and Cindy Bloch Alumni and Advancement Center (300 East River Road, Rochester).

URMC Diabetes Symposium: Join this interdisciplinary, full-day event in the Class of ’62 Auditorium on Saturday, April 18, to learn about patient-centered approaches to diabetes care across the lifespan and evolving clinical challenges and innovations. 

Apply for Novel Methods Awards: UR CTSI offers up to $25,000 to support the development of innovative biostatistical, epidemiologic, and machine learning methods tackling key challenges in translational research and population health. University faculty may apply by Monday, May 4.

Remembering Roger Boulay
Roger Boulay, MD, professor emeritus of General Medicine and Psychiatry, passed away on March 10 at the age of 97. During over 60 years of practicing in Rochester, Boulay founded URMC’s Medicine in Psychiatry Service as well as its first CPR program and first regional hospice program.

Recent photos of the "Arthur Moss Tennis Group"Members of the DOM regularly blow off steam playing tennis in a group started decades ago by the late cardiology legend Arthur Moss, MD. The group roster has included many URMC superstars over the years, including surgery icon Seymour Schwartz, MD, and group members have built camaraderie both on and off the court. Now run by Leway Chen, MD, MPH, of Cardiology, the group meets Tuesday evenings at the Tennis Club of Rochester. Reach out to Chen if you're interested in playing!
