Leslie Algase Named Chair-Elect of ACP Board of Regents
Leslie Algase, MD, of Primary Care, will serve as chair-elect for one year, beginning April 18, followed by a year as chair. Algase has practiced and taught medicine for four decades and has been involved with the American College of Physicians, the largest medical specialty organization in the U.S., throughout. Congrats!

NIH Research Security Training: It is strongly recommended that all PIs, faculty, and senior/key personnel currently engaged or planning to be engaged in NIH-funded research complete research security training in advance of your upcoming deadlines.

Rachel Simpson, MD, PhD, of Infectious Diseases, selling her book at a book fair.Rachel Simpson, MD, PhD, of Infectious Diseases, joined a writing group in 2023 as a creative outlet. That’s where she cut her teeth writing fantasy. With the encouragement of fellow writing group members, she published her first book, “Dragon’s Calling,” earlier this year. Her second book, “A'Brent: The Last Dragon of Fa'Nay'Og,” will be published next summer and is available for pre-order—the perfect last-minute holiday gifts for the voracious reader or fantasy lover in your family.

Honor: Allison Magnuson, DO, of Hematology/Oncology, will receive the 2026 Trainee Academic Mentoring Award in Clinical Programs at the Faculty Awards Celebration in April. The award recognizes excellence in mentoring residents, fellows, or other clinical trainees in clinical care or clinical research. Congrats, Dr. Magnuson!

Publication: Ashley Jenkins, MD, MSc, of Hospital Medicine, was the lead author of “Increasing Ketamine Administration in Children's Hospitals for Youth with Sickle Cell Disease” in Blood Advances. Marin Valentino, PharmD, BCCCP, of Transitional Care Medicine, was also an author on the study.
