Remembering David Dobrzynski Sr., MD
David M. Dobrzynski Sr., MD, professor of Clinical Medicine, died July 31 at age 67. A Rochester native and SMD graduate, he practiced medicine for more than 40 years at Pulsifer Medical Associates and is remembered for his ability to connect with his thousands of patients. He was father to David M. Dobrzynski, MD, associate professor of Infectious Diseases.

Publication: Irfan Rahman, PhD, of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care, coauthored two papers on chemosensory tobacco product toxicology (part 1: sensory mechanisms and part 2: toxicological testing, assays, and state of the science) in Toxicological Sciences.

Publication: Cynthia Monaco, MD, PhD, of Infectious Diseases, coauthored “IgG and Fc receptor genetic variation associates with functional antibody responses in a DNA and protein candidate HIV vaccine trial” in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

Publication: Robert Block, MD, MPH, discussed the challenges of testing for lipoprotein of Lp(a), in assessing risk of cardiovascular disease in a Medscape article, which also mentioned a recent paper authored by Block, Scott McIntosh, PhD, of the Wilmot Cancer Institute, resident Chris De Los Reyes, DO, MPH, and research assistant Michael Christof.

Off the Clock

A group from Transitional Care Medicine showed their colors at the ROC Pride Parade on July 19. The group, which included members as young as just a few months old, represented the UR Medicine Complex Care Center in the parade.
